Comprehensive Eye Examinations
This is where your journey begins. Your visual abilities are carefully evaluated. We meticulously measure your eyes to determine your need for visual correction, then diligently determine the correct prescriptions (eyeglasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, etc.) for your optimal vision. Most importantly, our extensive eye exams investigate your visual system, your eyes – inside and out – for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and all other possible eye diseases. Our exams can alert us to other potential conditions, as well, like high blood pressure, diabetes and other systemic diseases. We utilize the latest in diagnostic equipment and are committed to keeping up with whatever advances will come next.
Eye Infections and/or Eye Injuries
Our office provides emergency services for eye infections and eye injuries.Our staff will work with you to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. State of the art microscopes allow us to examine the front surface of the eye and facial areas around the eye for infection or injury.
After assessing the extent of the injury or infection a treatment plan will be formulated and explained to you. Treatment may include medications and supportive care. Follow-up visits to monitor your recovery will be scheduled as needed.
Pediatric Optometry
How well your child sees can determine whether or not they clean their rooms and pick up after themselves. Ok, not really but did we get your attention?
Your child’s vision is of utmost importance to their future. The sooner a child has an eye exam, the sooner we can ensure their visual acuities, eye health and, most importantly, the developmental aspects of their vision. We can help remove potential obstacles and increase their ability to learn, to thrive in school and in life.
Physically, children change constantly and so quickly. This is also true of their eyes and vision.
And did you know that 80% of the harmful UV (ultraviolet) radiation your child will be exposed to, in their lifetime, will happen prior to their 18th birthday?
So, please be sure to have your child’s eyes examined every year before school starts to ensure their health and make sure they don’t fall behind.
Sports Vision Therapy
Sports Vision Therapy help athletes determine how well their eyes perform, beyond a basic ability to see letters and objects clearly on a standard eye chart.
Many sports vision skills can be addressed to improve athletic performance, such as:
Hand-eye coordination, which helps athletes — including baseball players at bat — anticipate and hit a fast-moving ball.
Improved depth perception to aid athletes such as downhill skiers when they negotiate turns and avoid obstacles.
Eye tracking ability, which includes following and anticipating motion of a bouncing basketball.
The sports vision tests that assess how well an athlete sees sometimes also can be used to train athletes and improve visual function. A sports vision training program can be as individual as you are, custom designed to meet your specific needs and goals. In archery, it’s important to know which eye is dominant so you can choose the right bow for alignment with the target. Depending on your sport and results of the comprehensive eye testing, you may need training that will help you with skills such as anticipating the trajectory of a bouncing ball.
Computer simulations also can be used as training tools, including those that help batters accurately anticipate where a fast ball or a curve ball will be located when it’s time to take a swing. Some sports vision specialists even use techniques such as visual imagery (visualization) to help athletes imagine themselves performing at a peak level. You may be asked to see yourself dashing across the finish line in record time or aiming your rifle in precisely the right way to hit the target.
