What Inspired You to Become an Optometrist?
I had a very difficult time in school up until the 4th grade. No one exactly knew why. But, that year, my parent’s took me for my first eye exam. The doctor discovered I needed a strong correction and he made me my very first pair of glasses. When I put them on, for the first time, it was exhilarating! I couldn’t stop smiling. My grades immediately improved, learning became fun and my life became easier! I knew then that I wanted to bring the same kind of joy to people when I grew up…so cliche, I know!

What’s the Very Best Thing About Being an Eye Doctor?
Well, it’s three things actually. First, I love hearing about the successes of my patient’s at work or at school or from the athletes I work with. I can’t begin to tell you how
rewarding that truly is. Secondly, I’m able to give athletes an ‘unfair’ advantage in their sports and against their competition. Third, we put more demands on our eyes and our vision today than at any other time in human history.
Being an eye doctor enables me to help patients overcome the many visual challenges they face in their professional and private lives. It’s truly fascinating!
