Refractive and Cataract Co - Managements
First off, Dr. Q @ QT Optometry will evaluate and discuss with you about your visual goals and needs, to help determine if you would be an appropriate candidate for either LASIK, Cataract, or other surgical procedures. If, after the discussion, there appears to be no contraindications, then Dr. Q will proceed with the pre-operative assessment, to determine whether you’d be a good candidate for said surgical procedure. If the decision is made to proceed with the surgery after the pre-operative evaluation, Dr. Q will forward your medical information to the appropriate surgeon for a pre-surgery consult. Once the surgical procedure is done, all post-operative managements will be provided by Dr. Q @ QT Optometry. This post-operative care includes multiple visits over a period of time, starting from the date of the surgical procedure.
LASIK, Wavefront, and PRK
When talking about refractive surgery, there are several critical measurements which will ultimately determine if Dr. Q would recommend LASIK for a patient. Some of these measurement includes: the physical eye lid structure, the tear film, the ocular surface contour, the thickness of the cornea, and finally, the overall glasses prescription.
Cataract Extractions
By age 60, everyone develop some degree of cataract. The degree of visually significant cataracts are dependent on the individual’s lifestyle, health status, and environmental risk factors. Thus, a comprehensive examination is definitely warranted in order to asses the appropriate level of care and/or timely referrals for cataract extractions.
